The upside to Facebook is that we can share our wins with the world. The downside is that there are somethings we shouldn’t share such as stipulations in the confidentiality agreement.
According to CNN, Patrick Snay filed an age discrimination lawsuit against his former employer Gulliver Preparatory School. The two sides settled for $80,000 plus $10,000 in back pay.
Snay’s daughter celebrated by posting this on Facebook, “Mama and Papa Snay won the case against Gulliver. Gulliver is now officially paying for my vacation to Europe this summer. SUCK IT.” Unfortunately for the family, Snay’s daughter had 1200 Facebook friends, many of them students of Gulliver Preparatory School.
This is perfect example to remind us to keep open communication with teens on what to share and not to share. We have to imagine that the parents didn’t expect their daughter to share that and it came back to bite them in a very expensive, memorable lesson.
